Season 19, Episode 7 and Episode 8: Points

  1. Nicole says:

Kaitlyn made it to hometown dates

  2. CrazeMary says:

Poor Becca… Zero points :( Maybe she’s too nice or level-headed for the Bachelor :(

Can someone confirm my math for the last three remaining ladies?
    Becca: 380
    Kaitlyn: 455
    Whitney: 485

    • Bach Fantasy says:

I couldn’t believe the zero points thing either—I’m not sure that has ever happened on the Bachelor to a contestant where she wasn’t also kicked off. She would’ve earned points had they done the rose ceremony in Episode 7.

As for the math, do you mean the combined totals of the three remaining ladies from Episode 7 and Episode 8? If so, I have

      Becca: 200
      Kaitlyn: 165
      Whitney: 225

      • CrazeMary says:

Oh, sorry… I mean for the whole season. My husband still has Kaitlyn/Becca and I have Kaitlyn/Whitney.

    • Ingrid says:

I have the same points for Becca and Kaitlyn, but I have Whitney at 490 for her season total. I know Whitney had her stats corrected a couple times this season, which is where those 5 points might have been missed!

  3. Amanda says:

Jade said she was falling for Chris in episode 8 as well but didn’t get points for that.

  4. Bethany says:

In Episode 8 didn’t Whitney tell Chris that she loves him, not just that she was falling for him?

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Hmm, we only heard “falling in love” — when do you think she told him, “I love you”? Do you remember the specific scene? Because she did say something about her family to him, how “they’ll love you” and it sounded a LOT like “I love you.” I had to rewind and listen again!

      • Bethany says:

I thought it was when she was telling him about the wine she bought to share with her future husband but I could definitely be wrong. I mostly remember it from the commercials, and Lord knows they edit those things to look way more dramatic than the actual show.

    • Bethany says:

I r-ewatched that scene with the wine and Whitney says “I have absolutely fallen in love with you.” I think that counts, so I’m going to award those points in my league! I’m in last place and I have Whitney, so I’m really grasping at straws here ;)

      • Andrew says:

I re-watched and heard the same

      • Ann says:

That’s what I heard too, Bethany!

      • Bach Fantasy says:

Oh, I think we’re just getting confused with semantics! We counted Whitney saying THAT as earning the “falling in love with you” points category (20 points). We only reward the 30 points for saying those three little words: “I love you.”

  5. Kat says:

Does Megan get points for leaving on her own in episode 7?

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Nah, she didn’t really leave on her own! He confirmed that he didn’t really want her there (in nicer words) and escorted her out.

  6. April says:

Great job ladies – so nice to have you guys doing it instead of me :) Question – our league all thought Megan eliminated herself…she asked Chris if he was into her, he said not really, so she said ‘okay i am going to go then’…thoughts?

Also – have you ever thought about having some ‘bonus questions’ – like if you guess the number of times Chris cries in the next episode you get 75 or a 100 points. It’s a way for those in the bottom of the rankings to get a boost and still be in the game? Our league has done that in the past and its been fun for those trailing in the numbers to have a chance to regain some ground.

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Hi April! It’s a good question about Megan, because it’s not completely black-and-white. I think she had a similar exit to Britt—both ladies knew they were probably getting eliminated, so they asked Chris how he felt about their relationships, and then he gently told them he wasn’t into it and escorted them out. In the past, we’ve doled out points for “leaving the show on their accord” when a contestant approaches the Bachelor/ette with his or her bags packed and announces they’ll be leaving. It seemed like both Megan and Britt would definitely have stayed if Chris asked them to. I took Megan’s “Okay, I’m going to go then” as ending the conversation, like understanding that she had essentially just been eliminated.

Of course, if your whole league disagrees, feel free to award those points to Megan in your league!

And I like the idea of the bonus questions a whole lot. Would you be able to email us at [email protected] with the details on that? It seems like it might be a fun bonus to incorporate into next season.

  7. Lisa says:

Hey, now that the fantasy suites are coming up- why does a girl get NEGATIVE points if she turns down the fantasy suite? C’mon, we all know that any girl who turns down the fantasy suite with Chris is probably the sanest of the bunch. Also, any girl who turns it down is flexing some serious girl-power control over the situation. Why would a girl be penalized for asserting herself and for not caving to the pressure of the TV formula/Chris?

    • Bethany says:

While I TOTALLY agree that turning down the Fantasy Suite is definitely the most sane move, you don’t typically get awarded points for doing anything sane on this show. There are points for crying, being blurred out for nudity, being drunk, etc. So I think negative points makes sense in Bachelor-land! But you’d get some definite real life points in my book for turning it down! Haha

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Hey Lisa! Fair point and we’re happy to discuss! A bit of background first: this category isn’t coming from an intentionally gendered place—we first made up the rule during Desiree’s season, when we played with just our friends before starting this blog. So it does apply to both men and women who turn down the Fantasy Suite invitation. We definitely didn’t intend to reverse slut-shame, either. We thought of it more as, “This contestant is presented with an opportunity to majorly advance in the competition and he/she turns it down? Negative points!”

That being said, I do see how there might be icky implications with this category, and we will definitely re-examine to see if we bring it back next season. This is an evolving game, and we really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

      Thanks so much!
