The rumors are true. The mid-season draft is upon us.

If you’re struggling in your league, this could change everything. You have the opportunity to nab a frontrunner.

The Rules:

– If your team is NOT fully intact (i.e., you no longer have all of the contestants you originally drafted):
  • You can draft exactly one more dude to your roster.

– If your team IS fully intact:

  • You get a bonus of 50 points
  • OR you can swap out one of your existing contestants for another dude

When To Draft:

– You should complete the mid-season draft BEFORE the start of Episode 6 on Monday. Email your league commissioner with your chosen contestant. May the Bach gods smile upon you.

Should there be a limit of how many times a guy can be picked in the mid-season draft? The limit in our league was that a player cannot be picked more than 3 times in the regular draft. Should we make it so if a player is already on 3 teams he already cannot be picked in the mid-season draft?

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Sure, you can definitely impose a rule like that. If you have a bigger league, though, it might be a little hard for there to be any players left to pick! But if you have a smaller league, that could work just fine.

  2. Kristin says:

What should we do if everyone wants to add the same guy to their team, thus making everyone have the same team? And the one girl that has her team still intact also wants to swap out one of her guys for that same guy that everyone wants?

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Oooh interesting — I’d say make a limit of how many times each guy can be drafted in the mid-season draft. Then do it like a draft and go one by one and have each gal select her new contestant.

    • Jessica says:

I just thought of when she gets down to 3-4 you can only proceed with 2 guys on your team so that will help break the ties….

      • Kristin says:

We went ahead and picked our names out of a hat to determine which order you would be choosing your additional guy. And each guy was only allowed to be picked once.

  3. Shaheen says:

Is this intended to add points retroactively? Meaning if I add Luke, for instance, do I get the points he earned through the first half of the season or just points he earns going forward?

    • Aurora says:

Hi Shaheen: In our league, we make it like fantasy football, where you only gain points going forward. I think it’s more fair that way because it’s still a gamble. Thought I would add my two-cents. Good luck! :)

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Hi Shaheen — you only get the points he makes going forward. Just like fantasy football!

I have a question about setting up the mid season draft on the spreadsheet. I know the set up tab says to follow the same directions for the initial set up but are we doing that on the League Member Teams tab or the Teams – post mid season draft tab? Or does the Post mid season draft tab need to have each of the guys on each team listed on it? I just wanna make sure the points from the previous episodes don’t get added in for the new guys. Thanks!

    • Bach Fantasy says:

      Hi Breeann –

Good question. In the Teams – Post Mid Season Draft tab enter each league member’s full team, the same way you did for the initial draft. So, if one of your league members didn’t change his/her team, just enter their original team on the post mid-season draft tab. If someone does switch up their team, enter their original team (minus the person they’re swapping out) and then the new person they picked up. The formulas are set up to make sure that the points totals only include a guy’s points for the time that they were actually on someone’s team.

Let us know if you still have questions!

So we have a small league and we did a draft where every guy was picked once and we picked all the guys in the beginning (so I think we all ended up with like 5 guys). Now that we’ve hit mid season, someone has 3 guys left, a few people have 2, and someone has 1 guy left. There’s been talk of basically putting all the remaining guys back in a pool and re-picking for the second half of the season (no retroactive points – so I would keep Luke’s points for the first half the season and who ever got him in the redraft would get his second half of the season points). Is this something that’s ever done? SHOULD I BE PUNISHED FOR BEING THE BEST DRAFTER AND HAVING 3 GUYS LEFT AT THE MIDWAY MARK?!!? (I draft with a MARATHON’S mindset – not a sprinter’s!). I would also like to say, I, the keeper of 3 men, also have the least points right now and the guy with one guy has the most points. (Do I sound bitter??). Looking for any advice/suggestions here. Thanks!

    • Bach Fantasy says:

Hahaha, oh man. This is why BachFantasy is tough compared to Fantasy Football — if only there were more players to choose from!

I like the idea of doing a total re-draft to keep it interesting — and it sounds like you might end up scoring more points moving forward even if you don’t have as many players anymore? You could also do a 25-point bonus per contestant for each contestant you have left on your team at the mid-season draft. So you’d get a 75-point bonus. Trying to help you out here. :)

We’re really looking into the idea of making BachFantasy more interactive in the future and more like Fantasy Football, in that you’d draft a deep bench of say, 7 or 8 contestants but you can only start 3 or 4 each week in your line-up. It’ll make it more competitive. But we have to figure out a way to keep track of that. In the meantime, we’re stuck with this imperfect (but fun!) system.

      • Katie says:

OOOOH. that’s a good idea! Only playing a 2 or 3 guys a week. The only problem with that is that you see previews for the upcoming episode…so if you know Robby is getting a solo date, you’re of course playing him and are guaranteed a ton of points – not really fair to the guys not heavily featured in the previews.
Thanks for all this though – my bf and I LOVE watching each week because of your fantasy game!

    • Melissa H. says:

We did this exactly last season…I had Lauren B. on my team. I did not win. I blame the mid-season draft for this. Learn from my mistake!

      • Katie says:

AHHH! That would have driven me nuts! I had both Lauren B AND Jojo on my team last season, so I completely crushed it…I want a repeat win, so hence hesitation to “share” my remaining guys.

  6. Jessica says:

Everyone in my league wants the same person but I’m thinking we make an order of who gets the first, second, third, ect. pick. In the beginning of our season we picked from a hat to see who would pick when in the draft. Should we do it that way again for the mid season or should we do it in points order from lowest to highest?

  7. Jessica says:

Our league has 5 men to a team. For those who did the mid-season draft would they swap someone who has already been eliminated from their team, or would they just add a sixth member? Just asking to clear this up before the men tell all episode.

  8. Sara says:

If someone wants the 50 points, will those 50 points show up in the episode 6 tab or do I need to enter them manually?

  9. Shayna says:

How would you go about skipping the midseason draft? delete that tab in the spreadsheet? or just fill it all out the same as the first tab?

  10. Lex says:

Do we had the 50 points for not drafting anyone new to the season score or to this weekend episode?
