Pre-Season Draft
You have a few options when it comes to drafting your team of five contestants.
1) Live draft in person
Gather up your nearest and dearest, DVR “The Bachelorette,” and watch the show up through the last limo introductions. At this point, pause the show. Have each player draft their 5 contestants on a piece of paper and turn them into the commissioner.
2) Virtual live draft
So your teammates all live in different time zones, eh? We feel your pain, as we’re all spread across the continent too. For this to work, everyone should watch the show in his or her respective homes. Pause after limo introductions, before the real shenanigans begin. Email your appointed league commissioner with your five contestants.
3) Pre-show draft, based on contestants’ bios.
Select your five players and email your league commissioner.

Do you recommend every person choosing different girls or have you found that it’s okay if more than one person picks the same girl?
Hey Ryann! In our league, everybody drafts six contestants to their team and we don’t worry too much about overlap; no one has ever drafted the exact same team in our four seasons of playing. Good luck and happy drafting!
For the first episode do we get to pick who will get the first impression rose? Also, do we pick 5 girls every episode or do we only pick 5 and stick with them as our team?
If you draft one of the ladies that gets the first impression rose tonight, you’ll score those points. And you pick five in the beginning and stick with ’em (through drunken rants and steamy makeouts) until the end. Thanks for playing along!
How do you recommend tracking the points? Do you just leave it up to the individuals or do you track it online somewhere?
We recommend you appoint a League Commissioner to keep track of everything for you. There are more details on our “How to Draft” page, if you’re interested!

Hi Brooke! Great drafting. We don’t keep track of the points on our end; you have to download the spreadsheet and keep track on your end. Check in tomorrow to see how your team did!
Is there a way to draft now? I just found out about these bachelor shenanigans and want to play!
Of course! Grab your pals and draft maybe three or four contestants each and start giving yourself points beginning in Episode 3. Good luck!
Are we doing a mid-season draft this year? If so, can you remind me of the rules for this? Thanks! Love your site :)

We are a newly formed league that may have 11 players. Do you recommend we break up into 2 groups or just keep it as one that has 11 players? Thanks
Hi Melissa –
You can definitely play with a league of 11. I’d consider drafting 6 contestants per player to increase the amount of variety among your teams, though.
Let us know if you have other questions!
I’m sure this question has been answered before buuuut we have a league of 13 players. We have two options, since a lot of the players on our teams are couples we could pair up and split into 8 teams but I’m waiting to hear from my league members. How many would you recommend we each draft if all 13 players have their own team and how many should we draft if we go with just 8 teams total? Thanks for your help!
Hello,
We’ve got a big league – about 20 people and we usually just let everyone draft whoever they want (5 people per team). Last time we ran into a few people having the exact same team though (and of course, that team won it, complicating everything!). I don’t want to cut down the league. I don’t know that there’s a way to ensure everyone picks a different team so I’m looking for something that would be a good tie breaker! Any ideas welcome!
Thanks so much for organizing all this and tracking the points! It makes watching even that much more fun!!!!
It’s probably a bit too late now but we ran into this last season too. So what we did was draw numbers to see the order of drafting (we go in descending and then ascending order and repeat ie. 1 2 3 4 5 5 4 3 2 1). In our pool of 8, we decided each guy can only be drafted 3 times and then he’s ineligible for further drafts. I think it has made our teams way more fair! With a larger group you could say 5 drafts or something like that per guy.
I can’t seem to find a scoring template without scores already filled in for the entire season? I’ve tried the link on every page and each time its filled in the whole way through… Please help! thanks :)
What do we do if multiple teams in our draft now have the same guys???!
Hi! We’re in a bit of a pickle…I am playing in a league with 9 women. 4 women have the 4 guys who got hometown dates next week. It is our first time playing in the league. We are feeling like we’ve plateaued and want to shake things up these last 4 weeks. Any suggestions? Thanks!
What is the bonus question for tonight’s show?
